GDPR
The legislation for the protection of personal data, with the main instrument being the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – 2016/679) is the only legally binding tool so far for dealing with the risks posed by the use of Big Data Analytics (or otherwise “Big Data”), effectively constituting the organizing principle of internet finance, while the fines for non-compliance with the GDPR are very severe.
Personal data is the different information which, if taken together, leads to the identification of a specific natural person and which is protected by the GDPR. The needs of the time and the increasing involvement of businesses in electronic commerce and electronic transactions in general, results in the production of more and more data. Big companies accept thousands of transactions from customers in just a few minutes.
Therefore, the adoption of an integrated strategy around the huge amount of data will give a significant advantage to a company, since it will be able to manage its data in a very efficient way and make important decisions, which will lead to even greater optimization of various marketing and promotion practices of its goods.
